Can you see it? If you can see it, then you can have it!

Everyone believes that they are something. What you believe about yourself greatly determines what you are able to accomplish. Anyone who has done something great in life, worthy of recognition, has first believed that they were capable of doing it.  There was a time when they had to choose to hold on to the old vision of themselves or to embrace the new.

You aren't the person you were 5 years ago. You are constantly changing.  Your past beliefs about yourself are manifesting in your present. What are current beliefs about yourself and how will this affect you in five years?  Who and what will you be then?

If we could only get a glimpse of the potential that we have within. I am convinced that most people have greatly underestimated themselves.  If we could only just get a glimpse of the treasure God has hidden within us.

Dig deep, you will find it.  There's more for you friend, if you can see it, then you can have it.

Be more successful and happy by creating an environment that inspires you

Look around your environment right now, does what you see inspire you?... Do you see order and cleanliness or are things in disarray?

Do you have items in your house that you are holding on to that may have negative memories attached or that tie you too the past?  Maybe it's time to throw out some stuff, donate some and invest in the new?

Everything in your environment affects you to some degree from the colors you see, the art on the walls to the dust covering the table. Walk into a clean orderly house. How does it make you feel?  Walk into a dirty house. Maybe you can smell the trash that needs to be taken out or the dirty dishes piled high in the sink. Maybe there is stuff on the floor, things out of place. How does that make you feel?  They say that your outside environment can actually be a reflection of what's going on in your mind. You will find that when you clean up your environment, your mind will actually feel clearer too.

Your environment affects your mood, sleep, and much more...

It's your responsibility to create an environment for yourself that inspires you.   To create an environment that feeds your strengths not your weaknesses. Your environment is what you see, hear, smell etc. It includes the TV you watch, the internet sites you visit, the songs you listen to, the movies you watch, the Facebook chats you engage in, the relationships you nourish.

Your environment brings you peace or turmoil. It brings you happiness or sadness.  It brings your inspiration or boredom.  Your environment can mean all the difference in your success, and happiness.

Find what motivates you for the positive then invest some time, money and thought in improving in this area. This is an important investment in you and will bring you a great return.  What's awesome is that this is in your control.

You always have a choice.

Is secret hidden MSG killing off your brain cells slowly, making you dumber?

In case you didn't know "MSG" the food additive is what is called a exitotoxin.  Eating "MSG" actually excites some of your brain cells to death.

I"m sure you would agree that this is not a good thing as you need all the brain power you can get to make good decisions for your life.

"MSG" is found in many processed foods and many times is secretly hidden in the ingredients label.

How is it hidden?  It has many different names.  Follow the link below to see the list, then check some of the processed foods in your kitchen.  You may be surprised and if you value your brain, you may want to throw some things out.  When you go shopping, you may start a new habit of reading labels.  That is if you do decide to buy processed foods.  It's probably best if you avoid them though and stick with whole foods.   The closer the food to it's original state (less processed)  is usually the best.

Start improving your health with this awesome blender for less than $60.00 Dollars

I just bought a new blender and it's awesome!!!

I wanted a vita-mix or a Blend-tec that are both great machines but I am so grateful to have discovered  this one.

Believe it or not! The "Ninja Master Prep Professional QB1005" tied in regards to overall ratings, with the Vitamix 5200.

What's the big deal you ask?

How about the difference in price?

How about saving almost 400 dollars by choosing the "Ninja"?

On a side note,  did I ever tell you about how when I was a kid, I used to love "ninja movies"?

My father supported my interests and allowed me to buy a full ninja suit, on a trip with him to China Town in The great City of Los Angeles.

I also bought a butterfly knife, throwing stars and a blow gun from a gun show in North Carolina. We brought them back with us on the plane in our checked luggage. I doubt you'd get away with that today LOL!  The world has changed a lot since that time.

Although I never took my throwing stars or other weapons out of my own yard as I was taught respect for these things by my father.

This is a true story!

Many times, I was inspired by these "ninja movies" or the latest edition of "black belt" magazine and I would dress up in my full Ninja suit and sneak around the neighborhood at night.

I'm sure if a kid did that today, he would probably get shot. :/

Anyways, back to blenders.  I just got my "Ninja" from Sam's Club and it works great and it was cheaper there than many places I found online.

I paid about $53.00 Dollars out the door and it comes with a 1 year warranty.

I have thirty days to decide if I want another year extended warranty for only 5 dollars more.

Usually, extended warranties are not a good deal because they are a gamble and the odds are not in your favor.

If you buy a good product from a quality company, you can usually count on the product to work and continue working well far beyond the warranty.  How could could a company stay in business if their products were always failing?

They generally give the consumer a warranty on their products to ease their mind in regards to their purchase and hopefully eliminate the consumers fear of loss in buying a product, only to have it fail and them lose money.  I think they also give the buyer a warranty so they can have an opportunity to fix a buyers problem they might have with one of their products if it should fail in a unreasonable amount of time after purchase. Any good company wants to protect their reputation as consumer word of mouth can either make them or break them.

From what I"ve read about the "consumer reports rating" that they gave the "Ninja Master Prep Professional QB1005" and considering my own experience with this unit so far, I highly recommend this blender.

If your goal is to get healthier this year and you haven't already done so, consider adding a daily blended fruit smoothie or green smoothie to your regimen.  The only real side effects are that you might lose some unwanted fat and increase your overall health. I wrote a blog on using "green smoothies", here's the link.............

"Green smoothie, Ten minutes a day that can change your life in an amazing way"

I also recommend "green smoothie" as it is a great source of inspiration.

Let's come together and unite for a peaceful and prosperous world

The world continues to grow smaller in regards to cultural boundaries, thanks to technology.

I love my country as so many Americans do but so many Americans are realizing that it's not just about "God and Country".  There's a lot of people on this planet and all have great worth as all of them are God's creation.  As far as I know, God hasn't set up any borders or boundaries as governments have.
I'm not saying it's a bad thing to have some borders and boundaries as this country was founded on wonderful ideas such as "freedom and democracy".

Aren't we supposed to love all people though? Wouldn't that mean all people from all nations?  Even if they are different than us?  Yes there are differences but can we find common ground?.....

What is world peace?  How do we have more of it?  Just a few questions to ponder or maybe do a "Google search" on.

Such a wonderful thing to consider is the possibility of someday, more and more countries connecting with each other in a global community in regards to the common welfare of man.  This requires us to move in faith not fear.

In the same way that sports teams compete on the field, but yet are not each others enemies, it is great to see more and more countries connecting and doing this very same thing.

As the human race, we are stronger together sharing ideas than when separated.

I can assure you that we all have more in common than not and as someone once said,
"Why do we treat each other so differently? In the end, we all bleed red."

Peace love to all of you, everywhere!

May God richly bless us all and lead us to a greater understanding of the world we live in.

May God help us become more tolerant of others that are very different than us and our culture.

May God help us find common ground in regards to things such as world peace and the overall benefit of all mankind.

                                                                      "One World"

I hear a baby crying,
A sad sound, a lonely sound.
I want to take her in my arms,
And then I dry away all her tears.

I see a boy who's frightened,
A young boy with old eyes,
I long to say you're welcome here,
You can be happy now that you're warm.

We're all a part of one world,
We all can share the same dream...
And if you just reach out to me,
Then you will find deep down inside.... I'm just like you,

Loud voices raised in anger,
Speak harsh words, such cruel words,
Why do they speak so selfishly?
When we have got so much we can share.

So let your hearts be open,
And reach out with all your love,
There are no strangers now,
They are our brothers now,
And we are one.

We're all apart of one world,
We all can share the same dream,
And if you just reach out to me,
Then you will find, deep down inside,
I'm just like you....

We're all apart of one world,
We all can share the same dream,
And if you just reach out to me,
Then you will find, deep down inside...

I'm just like you....
I'm just like you....

Having trouble sleeping or staying asleep? Fix your insomnia for good without drugs.

Are you struggling with getting to sleep?

Are you are waking up too early?

Are you looking for solutions to help you get a deeper more restful sleep?

If so, please take time to read this as it might be just what you need to know as to how to fix your sleep problem for good without damaging prescription or over the counter drugs.

I had trouble with my sleep for years and I know how much of a struggle is can be for you.

My sleep eventually got better as I learned what to do to help myself sleep and then applied that knowledge, making changes to my daily routine.

Let me share a few things I learned that helped me, maybe they will help you.

Learning to shut off my computer or other mental stimulating things early helped me but I also made changes in my exercise and nutritional intake.  Since the body is made up of chemicals, foods greatly affect us as their chemicals interact with ours.

Food actually can act like a medicine when used properly.

If I can't get to sleep or if I do wake up too early, I don't worry at all about it as this will make the problem worse. Here's what I do.

I will eat some white rice with extra virgin coconut oil.  Eating a higher carb food like rice will quickly raise your insulin level, allowing your body to make more serotonin. From serotonin, the body makes "melatonin", known as the sleep hormone.

The reason I world recommend coconut oil is that it will give your body and brain some slow burning fuel that it can utilize, other than the glucose. This will make such a positive difference, let me explain why….

Coconut oil will balance your blood sugar by giving your brain a slow and steady supply of fuel. It also feeds your brain in a different way than glucose so your brain won't run out of fuel when it burns through the carbs in the rice.

One thing to consider is that eating a high carb meal like white rice before bed in the evening may help you sleep deeper as it raises your serotonin and melatonin like I mentioned above. Without a slow burning fat though or a little bit of protein, after your brain runs out of fuel from the carbs, it will wake you up.  This is a survival mechanism to alert you so you don't run out of brain fuel.

Waking up several times during the night is bad though because it interrupts your deepest sleep stages 3 and 4 which is where your body rebuilds, makes hormones, consolidates memories, etc.  It's during our deepest sleep stages that we make our serotonin, dopamine and other brain chemicals.  If we are not getting our deepest sleep, then this will lead to a deficiency in our brain chemicals.  This can cause many problems one being overeating during the day which only will ultimately make our sleep issue worse.  Having enough serotonin in the brain is directly related to feeling satisfied when we eat, having less anxiety and avoiding emotional eating.

Not getting our deepest sleep is why many people may be wrongfully diagnosed with a mental illness such as depression, bipolar or ADHD when in reality, they just have a sleep disorder.  Fix the sleep disorder and the brain can then make enough of the chemicals it needs to work properly and the person's cognitive issues resolve.

If a person is feeling fatigued each day or many days, it probably has to do with the quality of their sleep.  If a person notices that they aren't dreaming, this is a tell tell sign that they aren't hitting their deep stage 4 REM sleep cycle. Stage 4 is where we dream and it is believed that we consolidate our memories.

It may sound complex, but it's really not.  You don't have to understand why if you do the proper things to remedy the problem of course I always want to know why so this is for those who want to know the science behind it all.

There is a book out called "Potatoes Not Prozac" by Kathleen DesMaisons that is a very good resource. It's here where I learned that you can eat a carb before bed to increase your serotonin and increase the quality of your sleep which will in most cases, alleviate depression by the underlying method that I mentioned above. I highly recommend visiting her site and supporting her work.

So here's something to try according to this book..  Eat protein in your evening meal like a small piece of chicken or fish.  You don't need a lot.  Two hours after that maybe an hour before bed, eat a baked potato with preferably butter or coconut oil, preferably coconut oil but either is fine.  This will help you get to sleep.  If you do wake up too early, have some white rice already cooked and stored in the refrigerator.  Heat it up with some coconut oil or butter and enjoy it's yumminess.

Keep the lights down low during this time so your brain doesn't get the signal from the bright lights and shut down your melatonin production, this will keep you awake.

After eating, lay back down but don't do anything with too much mental stimulation such as Facebook or the internet.  Maybe read a book, watch a bit of TV to relax your mind, listen to a podcast or take a warm shower or meditate. TV helped me get back to sleep because watching something like a documentary is slow paced, could be boring and I would tend to fall back asleep.  The only drawback to this is the light generated by the TV so this might not be the best option.

Doing these things, I'm confident that you will be back to sleep in no time.

As I mentioned before, you can use butter on your rice or potato instead of coconut oil, let me tell you more about this.

I have learned that coconut oil is superior to butter in a few ways.  It is a plant source fat which is better for you but most of all it's fat or triglyceride content is about 50 or 60 percent MCT or "medium chained triglyceride"  I know that's a big word but what it means is it's a medium chain fatty acid.

Medium chain fatty acids feed the brain in a different pathway than glucose.  They are transported directly to the liver where your liver will make "ketones"  Your brain then feeds on these "ketones".  The brain has only two fuels it can utilize, glucose or ketones.  Medium chained fatty acids are very interesting and rare in our diets so cooking with coconut oil is a good idea.

The body will burn the MCT's in coconut oil more like a carb than a fat and people actually can use coconut oil to raise their metabolism and actually help them loose weight.

This is why I recommend this over butter although butter has other things that can benefit the brain like cholesterol.

The best butter to use is butter from grass fed cows such as "kerrygold butter" from ireland. They sell this brand at your local health food store or some nicer supermarkets.

When a grass fed cow makes milk, it's milk composition is very different from grain fed cows.  You can tell this by the way they look as well as the taste.  The omega 3 levels are much higher in grass fed and we all have heard how important is is for brain function to get more omega 3 fats in our diets.  So both butter and coconut oil can be beneficial but extra virgin coconut oil is my favorite. Make sure to get "unrefined"

One more thing to consider, keeping your nutritional intake high through fruits and vegetables and keeping your weight under control is so important as well to get a good nights sleep.  Especially watching your weight as many people, like myself, start suffering from "sleep apnea" when I put on too much extra weight.  Smaller portion sizes, coconut oil, lot's of high fiber vegetables and eating several meals throughout the day to keep your metabolism going are great things to do to fix this issue.

Daily exercise also helps our mood and sleep as it also raises our brain chemicals like serotonin and dopamine.

It took me years of struggling and much study to figure all this out and make all these connections.  Maybe the pain I endured during the process can help others in some way.

I recommend that you look all this stuff up on the internet and read more about how they will benefit you, your overall health and maybe most important, your brain function as your brain controls everything you do.

Like world famous Dr. Daniel Amen (who I esteem highly) says, "when your brain works well, you work well and when your brain struggles, you struggle."

You can find much more of him on Youtube or the web in general and I highly recommend learning from this genius and supporting his work.
It's pretty cool, because you don't have to be a genius to reap the same rewards as one,  if you only follow them as your mentors, learn and apply their wisdom and knowledge.

I hope that this helps you in some way.  If you want to discuss this with me further, you can find me here on Facebook.

Test your brain function and experiment to find what improves your overall performance

This is so cool! A free site to test and assess your cognitive abilities such as memory, reaction time, flexibility etc. You can then join group experiments already set up or create your own to see what different things in your daily regimen, food intake, exercise, etc., help or hurt your overall brain function. Find out if things like coffee really help you be more productive, or is it actually hurting your overall productivity. What time of the day your brain is most productive? Do any supplements or amount of exercise increase your cognitive function? I signed up and am going to start taking the tests and experimenting. I'm very much interested in improving my brain, as a person's quality of their decisions in life are directly related to the health of their brain. So says world famous psychiatrist Dr. Daniel Amen, (Amen Clinics). How bout you? Are you passionate about improving your brain and life?... Join me?....

Life is a mystery.  It is a great gift to be fully experienced.  It is also full of suffering and it seems that some have to endure more than others.  If you live long enough, you will experience painful things that can't be explained.

To say that God is fully in control of everything and has a reason for His actions is not accurate.  It would be saying that God is responsible for every rape, murder, accident.  God set up the rules of the universe such as gravity and we must work within these rules because there are consequences for our actions.  Every time someone gets behind the wheel of a car, or on a motorcycle they are taking a risk.  Some choices such as riding a motorcycle is more of a risk since there simply is not the forgiveness you can get in a accident since there is no protective car frame around you.  It's so important to realize that we are in control of our life, God doesn't control us like puppets or we are not locked in to a destiny just because of our genetics.  God wasn't angry with us when He allowed terrible things to happen to us.  Bad things or good things happen because someone made a choice.  We have a choice to learn to become better, safer, make wiser decisions.  Even as we make wise decisions, there will be things that catch us off guard.  Accidents sometimes happen but we can minimize our risk through our choices.

Live each day grateful and appreciative for all the people we love and good things in our lives.  We never really know how long we have here or when these things will eventually be gone from our life because they eventually will.  If it's one thing you can count on in life, it's change.  Life is a mystery because we always want things to stay the same, yet life is always changing.  We are always slowly losing something we love, but at the same time we are also gaining something we love.

Sometimes we can look so intently at our loss that we miss what we've gained.  Don't miss the good things in your life right now in this present moment.  This present moment is truly all we really have.  Maximize this moment.

Optimist or pessimist in your thinking?

Someone once said to me, " the optimist created the airplane and the pessimist created the parachute." I thought long and hard about this and actually, even though it sounded true at the time, it really wasn't. Even the one who created a parachute must have been optimistic in their thinking to believe that they could create something to save lives. The fact is that due to many factors, even with amazing technology, some planes are going to have trouble and fall out of the sky. One can be an optimist and recognize this, be proactive and search for an answer and even invent one. The pessimist or negative thinker gives up before even trying since to them, it's probably a hopeless situation anyway. So I'm convinced that a positive outlook on our lives will benefit us in so many ways and it's in our control to learn to think more this way. It may not happen overnight but when we have a negative thought or are tempted to say something negative about our lives, we can instead, choose to challenge those thoughts for validity and uncover the fact that many times, those thoughts simply aren't true. We can then choose to replace them with thoughts of being grateful and choose to see the positive. This is a mental habit that must be developed though. We can all come up higher in this area and over time, we will reap the reward for our optimism. Life's battles aren't always won by those who are fastest or strongest, but many times, by the one who believes he will win. Our attitude greatly influences our outcome and has much to do with success.

Hidden in plain sight

Sometimes the best things in life are already in our life but are hidden in plain sight.  What I mean is it may be a very small change to our daily routine that has a hugely significant positive effect on our lives over time.  Sometimes it may be a bit of good advice from a friend that we dismiss because it doesn't fit with what we know. We simply can't see how important what they said to us is so we dismiss their wise advice or idea and do not reap the benefits.

Many times we may think that we need a certain thing to be happy and in some way we are missing something in our life when in reality we really have all we need.  It's already in our life stored in someone or something that we simply have not recognized.

If you think you lack,  look again.  There is so much you can do right now to bring more joy into your life.  So much abundance right before your eyes.  Just look again with expectancy.  Look deeply, contemplate.  Your life is rich and full of potential for even more richness.

Your life is only as good as the quality of your thoughts

We all want a better life.  We all want to be happier every day.  To feel those feelings that make us feel happy and alive.  Those feelings that make us feel hopeful, peaceful, happy.

Imagine for a moment a time in your past where you felt a sense of awe and reverence.  Maybe it was a time in nature viewing a huge waterfall.   Maybe it was while at the beach, playing in the ocean watching the waves as they just keep coming and coming.  Crashing waves with so much power. The thrill.  Maybe is was during a thunder storm watching lighting strike and having huge rumble of thunder as it's low frequencies shake everything.  Remember that feeling of awe and excitement? That sense of reverence realizing the power of nature?  How about watching a good inspirational movie like "It's a wonderful life"  with Jimmy Stewart.   The part where "a flood of townspeople arrive with more than enough donations to save George and the Building and Loan"?   You felt touched.  You felt a sense of compassion.  This made you feel alive.

Maybe it was a time you opened up your wallet and gave to a needy person, bought them groceries or helped them fix their car.   You felt compassion.  You felt love.  You felt as if your life had such worth and a reason for being here on this planet other than just to use up resources.  You felt alive.

These noble feelings don't have to to be just reserved for rare occasions. You can live daily with the hope, inspiration and excitement that you felt during these situations.  Just simply be aware of your thoughts.  Are they thoughts of happiness, giving, compassion?  Are they thoughts of judgement, anger, fear?

Your life is only as good as the quality of your thoughts.  Your life is not somewhere in the future or somewhere in the past.  The fact is you don't have these things. You only have this moment right now. You are only living now in this very moment.  Focus your attention there.

The thoughts you are thinking right now are determining your feelings and either inspiring you to feel hopeful and happy or fearful and angry.

We can be greatly influenced by what we watch on tv, listen to in music or other people we are around but ultimately we decide the quality of our thoughts.  We decide what TV programs we watch or what music we listen to.  If you think your not being effected by these things then think again.

An example of this is how huge corporations spend millions of dollars in advertising just to have 30 minute commercials between TV shows knowing that they are actually creating emotional ties between you and their product.   They want to create positive associations in your sub conscious mind so that you desire their product.

Why would they do this if it didn't work?  The fact is that it has been proven that it does work so if they can have your attention, they can in a sense, program your mind.  They can influence you to desire their products hoping you will act on these desires and eventually buy them.

Have you ever noticed that the mainstream news channels only show you a small part of what is happening in the world?  There has to be more going on that is news worthy right?   They repeat one story for several days interviewing different guests, discussing this one issue.  What they are really doing is trying to set the agenda for the people.  They program the masses on what "should be" thinking in regards to certain issues.  They set the quality and content of your thoughts.  You may feel like they are not influencing you and that you think for yourself, but just the very fact that they are only showing you what they want to show you is influencing your ideas and opinions.  Like the famous music artist John Mayer says in his song " If you own the information, you can bend it all you want."

It's obvious that with air time so costly and limited,  they can only discuss so much.  So my question is "Why don't they choose more noble things to talk about"?   Don't get me wrong, sometimes what they are discussing is important and noble and should be given attention but what about things like poverty?  What about things like the problems with school lunch programs feeding our children low nutrient processed foods laden with high fructose corn syrup?  Or about how our teachers should be paid more but also required to do more and how the standard of our schools should be higher?

If I was running my own news network, you can but that I would spend the air time differently.

Where am I going with all of this?........

When you choose to allow others to have your ear, you allow them to set the quality of your thoughts and this sets the quality of your feelings. Since your life is now in this very moment, then your life is only as good as the quality of your thoughts and since you can only think about one thing at a time, then why not choose positive noble thoughts?  Thoughts of kindness and compassion. Thoughts of hope faith and love? Thoughts of restoration and healing? Thoughts of health and prosperity?  It takes the same amount of energy to think of these things as it does negative thoughts of anger, resentment, fear, etc. so why not choose the noble thoughts?

Life is really too short to spend your mental energy on negative things.  I'm not saying ignore the negative but how you intrepret the negative means the world.  You can choose to view life's  challenges with a positive expectancy attitude or a negative dreadful one.  It's really a matter of choice. Your choice. Choose your thoughts  wisely.

How to Live a Rewarding Life even with chronic illness

We all have to face challenging things in life.  Life is full of suffering and if we aren't experiencing some now, we will most definitely experience some later.  In life, some are faced with what appears to be more suffering than the average person.  This of course is how it seems but it is really hard to measure and compare since no one but God actually knows what each man has to face and why.

How about the man wrongfully convicted for a crime who spends 20 years of his life in prison for a crime he did not commit?

What about someone who is faced with a chronic illness causing much pain for them that they daily have to endure?

Most who live in pain, don't go around telling everyone that they are suffering, they simply suffer alone and do the best they can to manage.   I often wonder if the grumpy lady working the register at the local store has much more going on in her life than just a bad attitude.

How does one live with a chronic illness and find hope and meaning in this life?  How does one life with the disappointments that life will certainly bring?

Dr. Larry Berkelhammer has committed his life to teaching what he calls "Mindfulness based mastery and well being practices"   to help people improve their quality of life in spite of the pain, fatigue, or malaise people with illness face.  He has worked in psychotherapy for many years working with these people.  In the video below, he shares his story and some great wisdom to help us all find more meaning and peace in life even as we are all faced with challenges.

For more inspiration from Dr. Larry Berkelhammer check out his blog on his website. He's got a lot of really great wisdom there.
