Who's really in control of your destiny?

Ok, so people say that "God is in control" What do they mean by that? I mean ultimately He set up the universe so in a sense He is in control, but what about taking responsibility for our own lives? What about using our God given intelligence to think things through and make good decisions? I have recently discovered the concept of "locus of control" in psychology. There are two opposing views people have, either that they are in total control of their own destiny or that outside forces etc. decide their fate. Most people usually fall somewhere in between. It's called "locus of control". You either have a higher internal or external locus of control. Internal meaning that your decisions decide your fate. External meaning that you believe that outside forces, etc. decide your fate. Studies have shown that people with a higher (internal locus of control) meaning that they feel that their decisions decide their destiny, are much happier and achieve more. They tend to have higher self esteem as well. I personally have experienced a greater sense of well being when I have taken charge of my life and any area that needs change, I've studied how to make these areas better, made a plan and then put in the effort to change. GOD DID NOT DO THIS FOR ME. I've spent many years waiting on God to change some things in my life. Nothing happened supernaturally, but when I decided to put in the effort then I experienced change. Praying for good health and then eating fast food and sitting on the couch every day won't get you anything. Your actions must be consistent with your desires. If you want to experience positive change, it's up to you. You must develop a greater "internal locus of control" rather than an "external Locus of control". at the link below, you can read more about "locus of control" and also take a test to see where you land between internal and external locus. I really think having a greater understanding of this can really impact your life in a huge way if you have been a external locus person.

Have more energy and create the healthy vibrant future you desire

Have you been eating your fruits and vegetables? If you are looking for a sign from God then here it is....After much study, I am truly convinced that if you aren't eating fruits and vegetables, you are scheduling disease in your future. I think this is also true in regards to exercise. In order to remain healthy and function at a optimal level, the body needs exercise just like it needs the vitamins, minerals and phytochemicals found in fruits and vegetables. You can't just pray over a hamburger and french fries and expect it to miraculously change into something healthy inside your stomach. God hasn't predestined a certain level of health for you. Your genes don't determine your future health either. You determine your future health by your decisions. Your decisions no matter how large or how small have an effect on your health. Many people take better care of their car than their own body. Love yourself enough to give yourself what you need, not always what you may desire. Decide to make appropriate changes if needed. When your daily habits incorporate intake of fruits and vegetables and moderate exercise, you will have so much more energy and vitality. You will have more energy at work, school, and at home with the family. You will be empowered to better cope with the sometimes stressful things that life sends our way. When you take great care of your body, you will be happier and have more to give to others around you. I believe that even your brain will function better. You will become more creative and intelligent. You set yourself up for success in every area of your life through these simple positive acts. World famous Psychiatrist Dr. Daniel Amen said some remarkable things in the PBS program "change your brain, change your life." Dr. Amen has written several books and has become well known for his pioneering brain research. He has been using brain scan technology to study the human brain. Through his research, he has found some astounding things. In this PBS program he said that those who do cardio exercise and then study actually become much smarter than those who just study. Studying after cardio exercise actually improves the brain and allows it to function at a more optimal level and for you to retain more of what you learn. Another incredible thing that he mentions is that the daily intake of omega 3 fatty acids found in fish oil, actually improves brain function and can also make you smarter. These simple changes in your daily routine can have an amazing effect on your life. It's not just one day of doing these things that has such an impact, but the compounding effect over time. These small faithful habits have a compounding and synergistic effect, leading to the healthier happier life you really want. All of our choices big and small are leading us somewhere. Where are you going in regards to your health? What are your values in regards to this? Are your daily habits leading to the future you desire? I'm currently in the process of writing out my values and goals in regards to this area. From my goals, I will be creating new habits that lead to the optimal health I desire. Where do you want to be in 10 years in regards to your health? What small habits do you need to create that will create the future you desire? It's your habits that will make you or break you. People don't decide their future, they decide their habits and their habits decide their future.

Bloom where you are planted and eventually you will require a larger pot.

You cannot be something that you are not, but you can become something you are not. Who you are and what you've become so far in life is because of your decisions. Our decisions at the time we made them were based on our knowledge at that time. We probably made the best decisions that we were able to make then. That doesn't mean that we are not one hundred percent responsible for them though. We are still fully responsible for who we are and what we've become. Sometimes life sends us unexpected things like illness or tragedy. We still have a choice on how we will react. Consider the man in the wheel chair who has no legs an yet is full of life. A smile from ear to ear, a passion for his life. He lives each day in abundance because of his attitude of gratefulness. Although he could have much to complain about or become bitter about, he chooses to see the glass half full. Now consider the person that has so much going for them, yet they are still unhappy. The difference in these two men is their choice on how to view and react to what life has sent them. We are always becoming. Everyday, right now, this very moment, we are becoming. The question is, what are we becoming? The choice is not God's, it's yours. You decide whether or not you will live with a positive attitude. You decide whether or not you will become bitter or better. You decide to take the lemons that life may throw at you and make lemonade. Whatever you are, become a better one. Whatever you have right now, maximize it's use to your advantage. Whatever you are allowing in your life, that does not line up with your values, make a change. Even if you've tried something before and failed, it does not mean that you will fail again. Get some new wisdom and understanding and then try again. Purpose in your heart to never give up and you will most difinitely see much success. Life's battles aren't always won by those who are the fastest and strongest, but by the one who believes he will win and persists in spite of adversity. Bloom where you are planted, and you will eventually require a larger pot.
